I want to extend my congratulations to our entire school community - our staff, parents, students, business partners, district personnel and Board of Trustees - for our school being selected as a 2004 California Distinguished School. Our selection was based upon the quality of our program which was judged to be exemplary in statewide competition. On Tuesday, March 30th, we received a visitation from the State evaluators. The evaluators spent the day reviewing documents, interviewing students, parents, staff, Board of Trustees, and district personnel. They also visited all classrooms to talk with students and see classroom teachers and students working together.
Before the evaluators left, they shared with staff that their findings would lead to a recommendation to the State Superintendent of Schools for Laguna Road School to receive the award. To all who helped make this such a special day and the many who participated in the day's activities, we thank you. Your gracious words and encouragement were terrific. We appreciate your continued support and encouragement. Congratulations to a wonderful community for making Laguna Road School a California Distinguished School for 2004.
On behalf of the student body and staff I would like to thank all of you who have helped make this a very successful, award winning year at our school. Special thanks to our PTA President, Mrs. Lanita Logan, and her board, SSC President, Mrs. Diane Hughes, and her council, Student Body President, Kate Huh, and student council, all staff and parents for helping us to be recognized as an outstanding elementary school.
