Teacher of the Year 2011 - 2012 at Maple School
I feel honored and humbled to be recognized as Maple's teacher of the year. During the six years that I've taught 5th grade at Maple I've seen many positive changes in how our students learn. This pivotal change has taken place because of the strength of prepared teachers, persevering students, loving families, and a supportive community.
There are no words to fully describe how it feels to work alongside colleagues that take pride in professional transformation. Over the years I've been inspired by our district and school site to implement 21st century learning and higher level thinking. Truly though the message is strong and clear, teachers at Maple not only believe in teaching standards, but more so in teaching "the whole child." It is through this philosophy where I find that I am amongst some of the best in the district. Thank you many times over for this highest honor as there are many teachers at Maple that also deserve this recognition.
