The Fullerton School District’s Mathematics Benchmark Blueprints and Pacing Guides are documents created collaboratively by teachers for teachers. Teachers value instructional tools that enable them to effectively utilize their time when planning instruction. When grade level committees of teachers met during the summer of 2008, the task was to develop a pacing guide aligned with the scope and sequence of the textbook, addressing grade level standards in mathematics.   Because of differences in the K-5 (Houghton Mifflin) and the 6-8 (Holt) mathematics series, the pacing guides include components that are specific to those grade levels.  However, both act as a reference to support interventions for students.

This planning packet includes grade level Math Pacing Guides and the District Benchmark Blueprints, a companion document to the pacing guides. The intent of this toolkit is to equip teachers with the necessary information to plan instruction on a weekly/monthly basis. Using Data Director to analyze results from common assessments and District Benchmark Assessments, teachers will plan instruction and intervention.

Special thanks to the 2008 K-4 Summer Math Committee and ExCEL Math Grant teachers for their input in the development of the benchmark blueprints and pacing guides.
