Fullerton Spotlights

This weekend hosted the Orange County CUE Technology Fest where teachers learn from each other. There was a terrific turnout and lots of ideas presented. That event also hosts the Technology Student Showcase. We had five classrooms represented who brought students all the way to Rancho Santa Margarita to show their projects. It was a terrific event and soon you will see a short video on each project at this site http://www.k12hsn.org/resources/showcase (for now you can see projects from 2011 and earlier). If you are looking for great projects, take a look and congrats to the Fullerton teachers who were showcased!

More Collaboration

I so love twitter. I was worried since I have been out ill that I did not write my blog this week and I am too busy to sit and think about it. But then pops up from @rmom352 a tweet about Google Forms changes, great news!

You can now collaborate in real time on a survey. Take a look at what Google has to say at http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2013/01/google-forms-refreshed.html

This change may take a few days to come to all of our Google accounts, but soon you will be able to take advantage of this new feature.

Inspired to Read?

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend and had a chance to do something you like. I got to read and simply love that. However, now I am finished with that book and need a new one. Ever had that experience? Do any of your students need inspiration on what to read? This site, Book Wink, gives some talks and links to books for grades 3 and up. Even if you do not want to send your students there, maybe it will inspire you to get students to write their own reviews and you can start a webpage with book reviews that can be shared with your students and others. I bet your students would love to make their own video ads for books they enjoy.

Scribble Maps

Scribble Maps is a great site to use to reflect on where you have been or might be going. Ever need to add some notes to a map that you send to someone? Want to get reflections from students on what they saw on a field trip? This site might really help. You can view the map as a satellite picture as above. On my sample I could have students leave a note about an exhibit at the Getty Center they liked. Same kinds of things you can do on Google Earth but these tools are very easy. Take a look!
