IN MEMORIAL OF MR. MuRPHY, We’LL Miss You!

Mr. Murphy began his work in the Fullerton School District and at Nicolas Junior High School over 10 years ago.  After working as a substitute he became a regular faculty member in 2002.   With a particular love of American history, Mr. Murphy worked with with his department members to help Nicolas students learn all that he knew about the American Revolutionary War, the United States Constitution and particularly about the American Civil War.  In addition to his enjoyment of American history in the classroom, Mr. Murphy also participated in several Nicolas Junior High School American Heritage Tours while he was a teacher at Nicolas.  He rarely tired of talking about his beloved American history.  Mr. Murphy was an active part of the Nicolas staff and could frequently be seen BBQing hamburgers at student and staff events alike.  He also contributed to several dances to make sure that every student that was interested could attend.

Mr. Murphy also enjoyed other areas of Americana outside of strictly historical subjects.  Mr. Murphy had a love for rock music and would frequently have it playing softly in his classroom as students worked on assignments.  He had many posters of his favorite artists adorning the walls of his classroom.  He also enjoyed classic cars.  He had quite a collection ranging from a 1960’s era Chrysler to an early 2000’s Chrysler 300, an early 2000’s Ford Thunderbird, a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO and a recent purchase which was a 1980’s Corvette.  He frequently talked about his out of school passions with enthusiasm and excitement.

Thank you for sharing your love of American history, music and cars with your students and colleagues.  We are saddened that you lost your battle with cancer.  We miss you!
