Parent Institute for Quality Education - PIQE

EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF STUDENTS

The Parent Institute for Quality Education is an educational program for parents to help support their students’ academic achievement and personal development.  In these classes parents learn about the specific emotional needs of students.   Classes address junior high school age students’ need for emotional support and self esteem.  Additionally, classes deal with the effects of peer pressure and how students’ relationships with other teenagers and adults affect their personal development.  Through these class sessions, parents receive information for how to help their students navigate adolescence and become successful in high school, college and beyond.

COLLEGE PREPARATORY ACADEMIC CLASSES

PIQE classes also teach parents about how to get into college.  Setting college as a goal starts before high school.  Parents are taught about different programs that challenge students and support them in their pursuit of college acceptance.  Classes cover information about enriching academic programs such as honors, Advanced Placement and International Baccheloreate programs.  Support programs such as AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, are presented to parents as a resource to help students get into college.  Lastly, college preparatory A-G required classes are explained to parents so they know which specific kinds of classes students should take in high school in order to get into the college of their choice.

GUARANTEED ACCEPTANCE TO A CSU SCHOOL

Parents who complete all nine PIQE classes help their students get into college.  Each parent that completes the nine sessions of the Parent Institute for Quality Education receives a certificate that guarantees acceptance to a California State University system school.  To take advantage of that guarantee students must do their part as well.  Specifically, students must take each of the required A-G required classes in high school.  Also, they must have an appropriate grade point average to gain acceptance to the CSU system.  Lastly, students must score at an appropriate level to gain admittance to a CSU campus.  Through the PIQE program parents can work with their students to help support their goals of college attendance.
