Fullerton School District, has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education as one of 100 top school districts from across the United States to participate in the first-ever National Connected Superintendents Summit on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Superintendent Robert Pletka is among exemplary local school chiefs who will be recognized on behalf of their school district for their leadership in helping transition their district to digital learning. This unique conference will bring together officials from throughout the United States to share with one another, and the Education Department, promising approaches to using technology in classes.
Fullerton School District was chosen from over 800 applicants and Dr. Robert Pletka will represent the District at the White House as the only school district in Orange County to be recognized. The Fullerton School District is receiving this recognition for many programs in the schools, but most notably, the 1:1 iPad Visible Innovation Program (VIP), iPersonalize, and All the Arts for All the Kids.
“Equitable access to digital information and the myriad of technology tools can help ensure students are not only consumers of information but producers of knowledge and contributors to their community,” said Dr. Robert Pletka on the importance of access to technology 24-7.

    State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson announced that Beechwood and Hermosa Drive Schools were named as 2014 California Distinguished Schools for their “strong commitment and innovative approaches to improving student academic achievement.”
